Jon-Jo, what you have written is very interesting and how you engage in the different news you read. I agree with some points what you make and especially about social media and that people can make a difference. I have the same interests as you when it comes to sport and I agree with you that it is easier to find football stories because of internet cookies.
However, how do you know that on social media the news you find is reliable and do you mostly get your news from there?
This is very good and well written blog Jon-Jo, the points you make about the organisations you trust and use are backed up with some evidence. Although you could say which organisation you enjoy watching and gaining news by excluding any cost involved. Regarding you gaining news from newspapers you could mention which types you read and trust the most? However, you have made valid and agreeable points about the we media and democracy. I also loved how you mentioned that internet providers can influence how you get your news that are to your interests. Nice one Jon-Jo
Jon-Jo, this is a very interesting summary of the media landscape and changes in consumption reflected through your own media use. You show a good understanding of Gillmor and Morozov's views and rightly point to the way in which citizens sometimes use the internet to bring about social change, a change in regulations or just to help people out with the examples you have given such as 'missing persons'.
It's certainly a confusing time but do you think we have access to more information or better information?
